There's plenty of space for me in the back of your car,
I can move all your things around.
Was standing alone on the side of the road 'til I saw your headlights catch me.
I keep to myself on the right,
Trying hard to hide all the dirt that covers me.
You only can hide who you are if you don't care where you're going anyway.
I don't wanna be who I was back then. (I almost lost you again.)
I don't wanna see through the eyes of a liar. (Hold the door for me.)
I set them on fire back there,
They didn't know what hit them.
It's always the ones you never suspect.
Don't want to accept what I've become.
I don't wanna be who I was back then. (I almost lost you again.)
I don't wanna see through the eyes of a liar. (Hold the door for me.) [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/armor_for_sleep/hold_the_door.html ]
I don't wanna be who I was back then. (I almost lost you again)
I don't wanna see through the eyes of a liar. (Hold the door for me, for me.)
Don't wanna take the wheel from you, just keep on driving, keep on driving.
Just tell me what you want me to do, just keep on driving, keep on driving.
I don't wanna be who I was back then. I almost lost you.
I don't wanna be who I was back then. I almost lost you.
I don't wanna be who I was back then. (I almost lost you again.)
I don't wanna see through the eyes of a liar. (Hold the door for me.)
I don't wanna be who I was back then. (I almost lost you again.)
I don't wanna see through the eyes of a liar. (Hold the door for me.)
I don't wanna be who I was back then. (I almost lost you again.)
I don't wanna see through the eyes of a liar. (Hold the door for me.)
I think this song is plain and simple. It's about a person who's trying to get away from his past. I don't see where ore-sama got the "serial killer" vibe from though. It does reference hitch-hiking though. The lines "i set fire to them back there" could mean a number of things other than serial killing. He could have burned alot of relationships, or been a straight up arsenist. Songs have millions of meanings depending on how you relate them to yourself and what you know. In the end, the only person who knows the meaning of this song are the people who wrote it.
I think this song is about god. I think that he's basically saying how he realized who he was and didn't like it. He's asking god to hold the door (being the gates of heaven) open for him; dispite who he was. He realizes that who he was almost caused him to lose you (being god). He states that he doesn't want to drive, he wants him to keep driving. Living his life with god in control... Thats just my opinion.
The artist of the song is putting himself in place of a serial killer who is walking along the side of the road, trying to get away from what he has become.
A man, who cant seem to keep control of his own life, wants to keep his girl, no matter what it takes. He sees her driving, while he simply walks, hoping she wont notice his filth. He doesnt care who he was, or where he goes, he just needs somebody to stay with him. Somebody by his side. Someone to love.
