Know that I can't tell you this light has slowly faded.
Like mail that's never dated from towns still burned and raided.
And lost without a soul, with you forever more.
I'm sorry but I can't tell you I feel like a pattern
Of shapes that will never matter, a color that will never flatter.
It's all gonna' come around. It's all gonna' make your eyes burn.
I really wanna' tell you that love is like a furnace,
It burns in and out of purpose, so hot that it makes me nervous.
So large that it won't cool out. So big that it can't burn out.

I wait sixteen, a Saturday, love.
My heart beats fast and faraway, love.
Your eyes so pure, they never grow up.
You stay with me, we'll never grow up, my love.

I know that I can't tell you my mind is running circles.
My eyes have begun to swirl, like death, but it's not as sterile.
I ain't gonna' let you down. I ain't gonna' let you leave me.
I'm sorry but I can't tell you about life, but it makes me crazy,
So I just like to daydream, 'cause dreams only make me happy.
Will you come along my love? Will you come along here with me?

I wait, sixteen, a Saturday, love.
My heart beats fast and faraway, love.
Your eyes so pure, they never grow up.
You stay with me, we'll never grow up, my love.

I believe that the meaning of this song is how he sees the "one" and her remembers how it felt when he first lairs eyes on her and that he still remembers the feeling of this time. I also believe that this is taking about how he wants to go back to that time and they never want to grow up, they just want to be young and in love forever. And he loves her so much that he can't even find the right words to express it which is why he says, "i can't tell you; i really wanna tell you" and such.

    Great song though (:

Tom's singing this to his daughter. "i know that i can't tell you; i'm sorry but i can't tell you; i really wanna' tell you". He wants to tell her things but she's too young to learn the truth behind love. And as young kids do (as i was), they think they know better about everything!

"i wait sixteen, a saturday, love.
My heart beats fast and faraway, love.
Your eyes so pure, they never grow up.
You stay with me, we'll never grow up, my love. "

Here he's singing about waiting for the day when his daughter is older and brings her first love home. Obviously fathers are skeptical when daughters bring boys home too ha. He doesn't want her to grow up.

That's how i interpret the song!

The pure bliss you experience when you fall in love. Everything is exciting, new, and it seems like you will feel like that forever...

No matter how old you get, you'll always remember your loves eyes and face as they always were. You'll feel that connection, even if you don't see each other a lot, because of work or for whatever reason. But it makes it all worth it once you see each other once again; and feel that rushing wave of love flow over and make everything perfect once again.
