Got up early, found something’s missing
My only name
No one else sees, but I got stuck
And soon forever came
Stopped pushing on for just a second
Then nothing’s changed
Who am I this time, where's my name?
Guess it crept away

No one's calling for me at the door
And unpredictable won't bother anymore
And silently gets harder to ignore

Look straight ahead, there’s nothing left to see
What’s done is done, this life has got its hold on me
Just let it go, what now can never be

I forgot that I might see
So many beautiful things
I forgot that I might need
To find out what life could bring

Beautiful things

Take this happy ending away
It's all the same
God won't waste this simplicity
On possibility
Get me up, wake me up, dreams are filling
This trace of blame
Frozen still I thought I could stop
Now who's gonna wait?

No one's calling for me at the door
And unpredictable won't bother anymore
And silently gets harder to ignore

Look straight ahead, there’s nothing left to see
What’s done is done, this life has got its hold on me
Just let it go, what now can never be

So many beautiful things
So many beautiful things

Now what do I do?
Can I change my mind?
Did I think things through?
It was once my life
It was my life at one time

People go through difficulties and hardship in one form or another. Some of these difficulties are extremely brutal (the death of a loved one, break up, etc). Because of these experiences, many have fallen behind and seem to be stuck in world of their own, locking themselves away from the world. I believe this song is trying to say that there is no time to look back. There are way too many beautiful things out there and if you stop, you simply won't see it. The world is there; you just got to be open to it. Don't close in on yourself and let life's happening restrain you. Be happy.

Reminds me of my divorce. Yuck! It makes me sad, it didnt have to go that far...

This song is like oh sh*t, what did i do? ... Maybe i should have waited instead of pushing the divorse... Blahp

Sounds like this person has lost someone or something very important to her, and has made a choice to move on. Either for good or bad. Maybe leave a love behind, or contemplate suicide.

Beautiful things is a strong song that can help you look within yourself about things you are holding onto, or things that are keeping you in the past, and figuring out how to let them go.. Life is truly beautiful and with regret or looking back youll miss out the simple, or big beautiful things. Take your life back !

I got the title tattooed on my inner arm this year because i've gone through a very tough time in a relationship this year. Via facebook my husband contacted the band and mavie wrote back her meaning of the song which was so apt for what i was going through... Hence getting the tattoo. She explained the meaning for her was that you shouldn't let life take a hold of you in ways which you forget to see and experience all the beautiful things out there. It's so true and i have a reminder on my arm now whenever i need it :)
