Like anyone would be
I am flattered by your fascination with me
Like any hot blooded woman
I have simply wanted an object to crave
But you're not allowed
You're uninvited
An unfortunate slight

Must be strangely exciting
To watch the stoic squirm
Must be somewhat heartening
To watch shepherd meet shepherd
But you're not allowed
You're uninvited
An unfortunate slight

Like any uncharted territory
I must seem greatly intriguing
You speak of my love like
You have experienced love like mine before
But this is not allowed
You're uninvited
An unfortunate slight

I don't think you unworthy
I need a moment to deliberate

What a great song. Uninvited my Alanis Morissette. Dove Morissette and I are going to take a stab at it for fun. Can't wait.

I have not seen anyone have the same opinion as me, but listening to the lyrics and the kind of haunting music it kind of makes me think that she is talking about having attracted a kind of stalker, who isn't that creepy but she just does not connect with him at all? The whole "you're not allowed, you're uninvited" seems like she didn't mean to attract said person". Also the whole thing about him being fascinated and intrigued by her those are words that are used for things like watching and observing. Then there is the music which has a very haunting, almost creepy vibe to it.

I love this song. Not sure we can get the whole orchestra sound, but it sounds pretty good just with the piano. And I'm sure you'll sound great. Can't wait for Wednesday!

A thought about double meanings. The double entendre of love of your lover and love of the "Divine" is often found in popular music of various cultures.Sufi Qualli music is a fine example. The poet Rumi is all about it.In this song one can substitute the object the words are directed to towards "the Divine" .Another popular song for example is the Elton John song 'Your Song"(i think thats the name...anyway ,I sometimes wonder if that double entendre is a particularly good one in popular music. This song is fun to play and sing on guitar with lyrics easily gender bendable. It soothes the savage beastly soul of whomever might be going through something sorta like this.Either way this song is so deeply personal to the writer of the words that it would be ashame to take this song past its expressive ambivalence
