I am so ashamed,
I am so ashamed of all the trouble I have caused
I am so ashamed of all these un-opened doors
I am so ashamed of what I have become. [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/a_silent_film/you_will_leave_a_mark.html ]
Oh, my heart is bursting again
Don't leave this mark
Your eyes are turning away
I am of the west,
I am fair skinned I deserve a bullet in my chest
If I have no religion I've no reason to be scared
I am going to hell but I just don't care.

This song is beautiful. I absolutely agree that this person has made mistakes and regrets them. He regrets not taking those chances he wanted to and he regrets the choices he has made. He is so ashamed of what he has become and his heart is broken or "bursting" again. The one he really wants is turned off by all of this and her eyes are turning away. This is sad and beautiful and exactly how i feel. Ironic.

This song to me signifies an individual who knows has made the wrong choices and he now regrets them. The un-opened doors mean the chances he failed to take. Ashamed of what he has become, he is now troubled by looking at things in retrospect. Being of the west signifies following trends and now realizing he should have been true to himself instead. I relate to this song completely.

Boy meets a girl she's from the east maybe vietnam. Things don't go well with her family. He says the wrong things to her dad, a former nva. Her whole family are religous, hes an atheist. She choses family over love, which left a mark. Case closed. It's a great song. You can read all you want into it or not.

I think this song means like how you would feel when you did something very wrong and how you wonder "what am i turning into.am i turning into a monster", and how you don't like your religion. When people say you'll reget that when you go to hell, you're feeling inside like you don't give two damns if you go to hell. I can relate to this song very deeply
