Beyond the boundaries of your city's lights,
Stand the heroes waiting for your cries.
So many times you did not bring this on yourself,
When that moment finally comes,
I'll be there to help.
On that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care,
I'll be right here.
Citizen soldiers holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair.
Standing on guard for the ones that we sheltered,
We'll always be ready because we will always be there.
When there are people crying in the streets,
When they're starving for a meal to eat,
When they simply need a place to make their beds,
Right here underneath my wing,
You can rest your head. [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/0-9/3_doors_down/citizen_soldier.html ]
On that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care,
I'll be right here!
Citizen soldiers holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair.
Standing on guard for the ones that we sheltered,
We'll always be ready because we will always be there...
There... there... there...
Hope and pray that you'll never need me,
But rest assured I will not let you down.
I'll walk beside you but you may not see me,
The strongest among you may not wear a crown.
On that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care,
I'll be right here!
On that day when you don't have the strength for the burden you bear,
I'll be right here!
Citizen soldiers holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair.
(Citizen soldiers)
Standing on guard for the ones that we sheltered,
We'll always be ready because we will always be there.

I might sound a bit biased because my dad was a cop, but i think this song is about police officers. You could assign a police officer's situation to nearly every lyric. Besides that, cops are the soldiers of our citizens.

It keeps me going through drill and hopefully through basic soon delta company 168th infantry
My brother is about to go to basic training for the airforce soon and honestly, im really scared. But thank you to all those who have served and will serve! I love and appreciate you
I loved listening to this in iraq and soon i'll be doing the same in afghanistan.. This song is a good morale booster or atleast to me it is... A co. 1-112th infantry
This song is not just about the soldiers in iraq, bt about the everyday soldiers that simply help u, such as your friends and family. Or even a complete stranger can be a hero. I get that from "the strongest among you may not wear a crown. " i have great respect for the soldiers in iraq. One of them is my best friends older brother, nathan webb. But anyone can be a hero. All you have to do is care.
I don't want to take away from our soldier's beccause with out them this country would be nothing my wife's cousin's have served in iraq and i just what to say thank you to all of those who have served and all who are willing to serve as for myself i was a firefighter for 15 years and this is the song that i have adopated as my theme song every time i hear it it makes me fill with pride to know i was there to help others
The meaning of this song is about the salute to soldiers. I'm going to the national guard soon. Have to talk to my recruiter and everything to make sure everything is set up. My parents thinks i'm stupid and can't do it but if you put your mind to something you can do anything. I'm also planning to go in the military because i'm an international adoptee and had a chance to live in america and given chances to live in a democracy. I would love to fight for my country who gave me to live my own life and make my own choices.. Wish me luck
This is a great song... I'm going into the national guard soon and this is an awesome motivational song. It's nice to see someone recognizing what the military really does for once, because most people who haven't served in the military don't know what they really do, and don't necessarily respect them as they should.
