No meaning, other than it's someone who feels disconnected from the world... just wanted to add that the chorus lyric is "Ousemala." It gets mistranscribed a lot with the April Wine version, who changed it to "Who is my life", but for Elton, it's "Ousemala". I had the sheet music from decades ago, and that was definitely the lyrics, I believe it can also be found with a search on Google, or Bing.
