He is saying that when someone passes away you can't tell them anything you can't tell them that interesting fact that has been in the back of your head for weeks. Once they're gone you can't say your last goodbye to them. Once someone is gone they are gone and you can't bring them back and I think this song expresses that in an inspirational way and an emotional way. This song gives me tears because I wasn't able to say goodbye to someone I love and it hurt me.

Ronnie's brother Anthony passed away in an automobile accident and this whole song pretty much is Ronnie talking about what it has been like without have him. Now if you go deeper into the song you can see that Ronnie is talking to Anthony in a way to try and connect with people that have had this happen to them. This song in my opinion is a real eye opener into what it is like to loose someone that you love and miss dearly.
