This song describes the cultural experience of coming of age in the Balkans, contrasting the hopefulness of the 1960s (first verse: guitars, LPs, yellow brick road), the 1970s (2nd verse: Che Guevara, protests), and the 1980s (3rd verse: travel, train platforms, passports, postcards) with the despair of the 90s (5th verse), when the Balkans was riven by nationalist wars. It accepts (6th verse) that the complacency of the progressives, in retrospect, played a role in enabling the nationalists to rise to power. It concludes with hopeful anger (verses 7-9), saying "fuck you 90s" and wishing the 90s to be over, and for all the perpetrators of the violence to either be forgotten or left to kill each other in isolation.
