The song talks about slavery where it still exists, as well as human exploitation and cruelty to women (sexism etc.). Although Taylor Swift enjoyed her golden year in the musical industry in 2010, she has been changing musical styles ever since her fourth album, Red, was released. Take this song, for example. It contains lyrics relating to cruelty, slavery, evil, dread, gloom, and exploitation. Plus, since Taylor Swift seemingly took a peek into how people can be buried alive, we can prove that she was buried alive once in the pre-chorus. Therefore, this song is, in my opinion, a mess compared to her past songs, the majority of which didn't contain lyrics related to cruelty, possibly due to the lyrics relating to cruelty and slavery, as you can hear throughout the entire song. -Emily (age 14 3/4)

These two lines explain the life of the Dork Diaries character Nikki Maxwell, whose Aunt Mabel still insists that she sit at the kiddie table and how she'd had to suffer from drama in the majority of Dork Diaries books. -Emily (age 14 3/4)

I don't trust nobody and nobody trusts me
This is a way Taylor Swift explains how the reputation of exploited people could decline over time, which is why slavery needs to be stopped, worldwide.

Ooh, look what you made me do
Look what you made me do
Look what you just made me do
Look what you just made me—
Ooh, look what you made me do
Look what you made me do
Look what you just made me do
Look what you just made me do
This part of the lyrics talks about what human traffickers forced her to do - slavery and cruelty to women. It therefore gives us a message that slavery, cruelty to people, and exploitation are bad things and should be abolished worldwide, if possible.
