Meaning
It kind of represents Jesus in a modern way, because He already accepts and acknowledges us as we are, regardless of all our sins, especially pride, selfish desires, flaws and weaknesses, which we put onto Him to die and suffer for us. And the line 'as long as you love me' also tells us that He only asks for a thankful heart without taking things for granted at all when we ask for an excessively overloaded pile of - may the harsh truth be told - useless, worthless, meaningless things, some of which can't even last for a minute, so why do we even ask for them? Even a whole lifetime immediately flashes within the blink of an eye and isn't even the tiniest grain of sand compared to eternity in Heaven.
