There is something empowering about a chainsaw. The day of my divorce (over 12 years ago), I got my chainsaw and cut down several trees along the back fence. Being able to "cut down" the tree like she had been cut down by him was cathartic and healing.
Nothing was left of the years of tree growth but a stump. And nothing was left of her but a person boldly sitting on top of the stump.
