Am I very far now? The child asks many tough questions to the companion with these few words. Am I close to death? Am I close to God? Am I going to lose you when I go? Do I really understand what is happening to me? How Far?
I hope I never have to have a conversation like this and I'm glad someone has expressed it in poetry and song for me to feel and empathize with them. Great song!

How our shoes make hard noises in
How our shoes make hard noises in
The idea of a child being taken from this world is such a difficult subject to reconcile with our faith in God. As they walk the path to the child's death, they are questioning their faith, discussing it with others and finding their journey of faith becoming poignant. The hard noises are heard the hard thoughts going through their minds and reflected when they talk to others.
