Let me see. Went sailing. I got the time and money. While out there one has time to think - the present is just sailing - the sea, the skies, the stars. So thoughts go to the past - who is left behind and what dreams were when younger. There has to be some regrets in there somewhere. Then of course there is the future - not really so bright and sure - but still some hope that the things we think might be fulfilling may someday happen. Then there is the bullshit. A good song must have some bullshit. When I saw the Southern Cross for the first time, I couldn't find it. I knew about where it should be, but it is one of the most unclear constellations in the sky. I am not really sure why that would be exciting, except that the only way one can see it is to be in a part of the world most people never reach. So it is not the stars, but the state of being in the adventure that makes "You understand now why you came this way." The truth that he ran from (and caused his painful reflection in the first place) was actually small. But the potential to grow from it and find good in the future is "as big as the promise, the promise of a coming day." All in all an astounding song.
