Tmbg will always be remembered as a ground breaker in music, doing what they wanted and felt was right, as opposed to caving in to inane demands from record companies. Every song is more intelligent, creative, and often even funnier than it at first appears. This small example is no exception. Although they themselves are very modest, I have no problem stating the obvious. They might be giants changed what we think of as alternative rock from the moment they became known. The john's are, in a word, brilliant.
