The lyrics to this song were written by Courtney Love. Most confuse it for a love song for daughter Frances Bean - but that is only partly correct. She wrote this with the band in 1 day claiming that she needed a song that she could sing for Frances at night. However, she has stated on numerous occasions, that this song is about a girl traveling on the Pacific Coast Highway, on her way to losing her virginity, but she dies on the way there. It works as a double entoundra, one for being 'going to a figurative heaven with her boyfriend' and the other being a literal meaning of her dying.
