Da da da da da da da da...

Hell had you by the throat
You never got to heaven
But you got real close

Your past has you in a chokehold,
But you deserve it from what I've been told
Call my bluff, say what you want,
I'm looking down at you from the top,
I beg for attention in small doses,
Leave the scene smelling of dead roses

Loverboy, you're playing those hearts like toys,
Don't you feel bad, don't you feel bad?
Feel bad for them
?

This is your night with arms wide open,
I'm the option you shouldn't have chosen,
Scared of the dark, the door's wide open
This is a night you'll regret in the morning.

Loverboy, you're playing those hearts like toys,
Don't you feel bad, don't you feel bad?
Feel bad for them?
If given the choice would you do it again?
Of course I would, of course I should,
Well I'm your friend, friends with benefits.

Da da da da da da da da...
Loverboy, you're playing those hearts like toys,
Don't you feel bad, don't you feel bad?
Feel bad for them?
If given the choice would you do it again?
Of course I would, of course I should,
Well I'm your friend, friends with benefits.

It's not about a member of the band. But the lead singer is singing from two people's sides. It's about a guy who goes around using girls and breaking their hearts. They don't see themself as in the wrong, believung they're like a friend, with benefits.
Finally, when he sings "of course i would", it can be argued that he is the so called "lover boy" or, he is having ago and believes he knows exactly how the player would react.

I have the cd and in my lyrics booklet it says:.
Loverboy, you're playing those hearts like toys. Don't you feel bad? Don't you feel bad? Feel bad for them.
So those who are saying they have the cd and that in their lyrics book it says played us up like toys, are lying. I have listened to the song many times and I can hear josh singing 'playing those hearts like toys'. I also met the band while they were on their tour when I went to one of their shows and I asked josh himself and he said it was playing those hearts like toys so anyone saying different is wrong.

This song reminds me of a guy who I like. He likes me. He's got a girlfriend. At a recent party he met my best friend, many times. I was at the party. They claimed they where just talking but even after they confessed to me that they did it they got themselves alone and did it again and again and again. He tried to make me do things with him when he came out with us the other day. I don't know if he's sorry about what he's doing/done. His girlfriend has no clue that any of this is going on. This is his song I personally think.

You should by the album sinners never sleep and you will see in the little booklet that these lyrics are wrong! You can't be much of a fan if you don't know this!
