Van Morrison – Into The Mystic lyrics
We were born before the wind
Also younger than the sun
Ere the bonnie boat was won as we sailed into the mystic
Hark, now hear the sailors cry
Smell the sea and feel the sky
Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic

And when that fog horn blows I will be coming home
And when that fog horn blows I want to hear it
I don't have to fear it
I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
Then magnificently we will float into the mystic
And when that fog horn blows you know I will be coming home
And when thst fog horn whistle blows I got to hear it
I don't have to fear it
I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And together we will float into the mystic
Come on girl...

I reckon this song is referring to the human races collective consciousness and the fact that we all come from the universe. We were born before the wind meaning that our consciousness has been around longer than the earth. We arrive on earth only because the conditions at this time allow humans to survive and then we sail back into the mystic (universe) when we die. I would love to know from Van himself what his meaning of the lyrics was when he wrote this v cool song.

I took my three year old cranberry picking one nice fall day, on that seaside landscape was an old lighthouse so him being curious wanting to know what it was, I explained to him that when boats(or humans) were lost the light and the fog horn would guide them back to safety. He's now in care of Director of child and family, His mother my Daughter is now in jail because of a serious drug addiction and fighting the nattlle of getting him back. See Prince Edward Island doesn't take drug addiction as a sickness only as a crime. To this day I'm waiting for that foghorn to Blow where he'll be coming home. This song says it all. Thank You for the comforting lyrics. This is my daily prayer song. Thanks Again.

I work on the boats and a lot of times we have to work in the fog when you're working in the fog and its crew change morning and you try and make it to the dock and then know your loved one is waiting for you at the dock to come get you that's basically what it means to me.

This song, in my opinion is the best track Van ever did. As much as it may sound like he is talking about a woman, he is not. He is talking about the White Cliffs of Dover on the coast of England. This song, like many others talks about things they love, other than a special person.
