The song is about a few things at once. Firstly, it's about perspective: notice how each verse gets smaller and smaller in scope. We're all individuals, but we all live together on the same planet. Secondly, it's about accepting what you have instead of worrying about what you don't. Nothing is perfect - not you, not your body, not your house, not your country, not the Earth - but it's what we have, so we need to work with it.

I love this song and its words. The first time I heard Tim sing it was on a show in Oz with the dude out of Doug Anthony Allstars - his program apologises forgot his name... anyway that's when I fell in love with Minchin's writing, playing and singing. Would love to see him in politics especially back over here in Oz. God knows we need someone to keep the bastards honest. If you haven't seen it yet I suggest any lovers of this watch Tim in "Jesus Christ superstar' no guessing who the start is:)
As far as what the songs about agree with the above it's not perfect. Nothing is, make the most of it, appreciate where we are and if we actually see it as "MY" earth, but a collective my so we all have a responsibility to its wellbeing and humankind's future. Namaste X.
