Tenth Avenue North – Hold My Heart lyrics

How long must I pray, must I pray to You?
How long must I wait, must I wait for You?
How long 'til I see Your face, see You shining through?
I'm on my knees, begging You to notice me.
I'm on my knees, Father will you turn to me?

One tear in the driving rain,
One voice in a sea of pain
Could the maker of the stars
Hear the sound of my breakin' heart?
One light, that's all I am
Right now I can barely stand
If You're everything You say You are
Won't You come close and hold my heart

I've been so afraid, afraid to close my eyes
So much can slip away before I say goodbye.
But if there's no other way, I'm done asking why.
Cuz I'm on my knees, begging You to turn to me
I'm on my knees, Father will you run to me?

One tear in the driving rain,
One voice in a sea of pain
Could the maker of the stars
Hear the sound of my breakin' heart?
One light, that's all I am
Right now I can barely stand
If You're everything You say You are
Won't You come close and hold my heart.

So many questions without answers, Your promises remain
I can't sleep but I'll take my chances to hear You call my name
To hear You call my name

One tear in the driving rain,
One voice in a sea of pain
Could the maker of the stars
Hear the sound of my breakin' heart?
One light, that's all I am
Right now I can barely stand
If You're everything You say You are
Won't You come close and hold my heart.

Hold my heart, could you hold my heart?
Hold my heart.

This song means so much to me and my family. My dad got sick with leukemia in 2008 and passed away in the summer of 2009. He was a pastor of our church and the most godly man I know. :)
one of the first songs my family heard after his passing was this song. And as hard as it is without him, he taught us to be strong and always place our trust in jesus christ to hold us. I know that christ is running to me, to hold my heart.

Well the way I feel is I have lost alot and have been through alot. And when I list to this I feel like it's a cry to god a comfort. Asking him for real to help to hold me and love me. It's when you have tried everything and there is nothing else to try you drop to your knees. And cry out. It is when you are truly broken. And in other ways is a surrender. No more fight. This song is straight from the heart!

Such an unscriptural song. Full of self pity built on the ignorance of scripture. When one realizes the power of god's word and the truth of it they can know that god hears them, that he is near, that he is a very present help in a time of trouble, that he never leaves you nor forsakes you, that he is a friend that sticks closer than a brother, that he heals the broken hearted, that he is the author and finisher of our faith. Hold fast the profession of your faith, put on the armor of god so that you may withstand the wiles of the devil. People want god to do something when he already has you just have to act on it.
