Like a long lonely stream
I keep runnin' towards a dream
Movin' on, movin' on
Like a branch on a tree
I keep reachin' to be free
Movin' on, movin' on
'Cause there's a place in the sun
Where there's hope for ev'ryone
Where my poor restless heart's gotta run
There's a place in the sun
And before my life is done
Got to find me a place in the sun
Like an old dusty road
I get weary from the load
Movin' on, movin' on
Like this tired troubled earth
I've been rollin' since my birth
Movin' on, movin' on [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/s/stevie_wonder/a_place_in_the_sun.html ]
There's a place in the sun
Where there's hope for ev'ryone
Where my poor restless heart's gotta run
There's a place in the sun
And before my life is done
Got to find me a place in the sun
You know when times are bad
And you're feeling sad
I want you to always remember
Yes, there's a place in the sun
Where there's hope for ev'ryone
Where my poor restless heart's gotta run
There's a place in the sun
Where there's hope for ev'ryone
Where my poor restless heart's gotta run
There's a place in the sun
Where there's hope for ev'ryone...
This song is very special to me, as it played on the radio just before my mum died after a long illness.. I was on the way to the hospital. A place in the sun was her favourite t.v. Programme, and the song said to me that she was trying to get free, to move on and be at peace. She never really believed in god, but i feel the lyrics were saying to me that she now knew there was a 'place in the sun' for everyone, and that i needn't worry about her or about anything in life. I don't know if the song was intended to have a spiritual meaning, but it certainly did for me and got me through a difficult time.
