Steven Curtis Chapman – Do They Know lyrics

[Verse 1]
I'm one of the chosen few
God chose to carry to
A hopeless and dying world
Good News
I'm a disciple of
A caring Father's love
A light to the world
To show them the way

[Chorus]
Do they know
Can they see
Jesus lives in me
Do they know
Can they see
Jesus lives in me

[Verse 2]
A vacant house comes alive
When somebody moves inside
A light in the window
Means someone's home
I say Jesus lives in me
But can everybody see
The light of His love
That shines in my heart

[Chorus]
Do they know
Can they see
Jesus lives in me
Do they know
Can they see
Jesus lives in me

[Bridge]
A cloud of witnesses surrounds us
Who long to share what we've received
Tell me where will they see Jesus
If not in you and me
So we must...

[Chorus]
Let them know
Let them see
Jesus lives in you and me
Let them know
Let them see
He is all they need
Jesus is all they need

If you saw your friend walking toward a cliff he couldn't see, wouldn't you warn him of his impending danger? Who would be to blame if he fell without being told where he was going?

Most of us would not hesitate to point out something like a cliff, but many of us are afraid to warn those we know, and even those we love, of the danger of going into eternity unprepared. This song is about how we should, after all that Christ has done for us, be living lives that point the people around us to Him.

Some might wonder why God isn't doing more to make Himself known around the world. The answer to that question is another question: why aren't YOU doing more to make Him known around the world? Jesus gave us the Great Commission so that we could be His hands and feet.

The responsibility for reaching the world is ours. The responsibility is yours. True, that doesn't mean you should pack your bags and be a missionary in Congo, but every day, YOU are blessed with the opportunity to reach the people around you in the way that only you can. Failing to do so may not send you to Hell, but it's still wrong.
