The sun don't shine
The moon don't move the tides,
To wash me clean
Sun don't shine
The moon don't move the tides,
To wash me clean
Why so unforgiving and why so cold
Been a long time crossing Bridge of Sighs
Cold wind blows
The Gods look down in anger,
On this poor child
Cold wind blows
And Gods look down in anger,
On this poor child
Why so unforgiving and why so cold
Been a long time crossing Bridge of Sighs
I wonder what motivated him to write it? Sounds gloomy and hopeless, maybe Robin will write us a new song before he leaves this world, one that shows "Hope"as the ability to see the life that springs from death! Quiddity!
Listening to this song hundreds of times from the time I first heard it in 1973, I realize its true meaning to me, personally. Life is what it is, a challange through the three existances of past, present and future.
The true meaning of this song is based on the gallows walk from a prison in England across the bridge to the execution area. The bridge is called...nick named (The bridge of sighs.)
