Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle see His banners go!

Refrain
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.

Refrain
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

Like a mighty army moves the church of God;
Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod.
We are not divided, all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.

Refrain
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

What the saints established that I hold for true.
What the saints believиd, that I believe too.
Long as earth endureth, men the faith will hold,
Kingdoms, nations, empires, in destruction rolled.

Refrain
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
But the church of Jesus constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail;
We have Christ's own promise, and that cannot fail.

Refrain
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song.
Glory, laud and honor unto Christ the King,
This through countless ages men and angels sing.

Refrain
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before...

    How many times have you sang this, either in church or outside of church? Sort of sums up things doesn't it?

    Through battles of hardship, sorrows, pain, fear and war against the enemy. Remain strong and follow our leader " christ the royal master" he leads the battle and will see us through, and victory will be ours.

    I sang this every Sunday in Sunday School. I understand the meaning. Jesus is our leader, always leading us through whatever we are going through. My Mother was in her last hrs. here on earth when she cried out that she saw JESUS & her boy. Her boy that went to JESUS when he was barely 4. As I was at her side. I didn't even think and all of a sudden I was singing "Onward Christian Solders" to my Mom. Her face LIT UP! What a great testimony. My Mother is with JESUS our LEADER. Thank you JESUS.
