Pixies – Debaser lyrics

Got me a movie
I want you to know
Slicing up eyeballs
I want you to know
Girlie so groovy
I want you to know
Don't know about you
But I am un chien andalusia
Wanna grow
Up to be
Be a debaser, debaser

Got me a movie
Ha ha ha ho
Slicing up eyeballs
Ha ha ha ho
Girlie so groovie
Ha ha ha ho
Don't know about you
But I am un chien andalusia

Debaser

Lhe lyrics in this song is so dark but it stems from the french words and movie Un Chien Andalou better known as in English (An Andalusian Dog) a silent film from France that has a sadistic part where a middle aged man cuts open a young woman's eyeball clearly this is where frank black got the idea from or from a friend who viewed the movie together to write and inspire the lyrics for this song, strangely enough Both of the leading actors of the film eventually committed suicide: Batcheff overdosed on Veronal on April 13, 1932 in a hotel in Paris, and Mareuil committed self-immolation on October 24, 1954 by dousing herself in gasoline and burning herself to death in a public square in Périgueux, Dordogne. Sad ending to a strange film and inspiration for a interesting song well that's debaser for you weird huh?
