Long Way To Happy lyrics

I've heard a lot of different opinions on this song, from different people. Some people think it's about a one night stand that got the girl pregnant. Others things it's about physical abuse, or sexual abuse like rape. I think it's about a rape. It's just the way the words hit me. I think in the beginning "One night to you, lasted six weeks for me" she's talking about someone taking advantage of her. How it happened one night but it's haunted her for weeks. Or maybe she felt like six weeks had passed but it was really just one night. And the line "No more waking up to innocence, say hello to hesitance, to everyone I meet. Thanks to you years ago, I guess I'll never know what love means to me". I think that means it was something sexual. Innocence could be referring to virginity and it was taken from her years ago but she still thinks about it. And she's scared that people are going to hurt her like this particular person did, hence the "say hello to hesitance to everyone I meet". And the chorus is definitely talking about not being happy and it's going to take her a while to be happy. I think that means whatever happened was very traumatic. And the line "It's gonna take a long time to love" that makes me think it had to do with something sexual. I don't know, when I hear the song all together it really just cries out "rape" to me. Because I know what it feels like to be raped at a young age, and the girl in this song is going through exactly what I did after being raped. Maybe it's about different things and the listener is supposed to make their own opinion about it. They're supposed to be able to relate to it because everyone's been through something hard like that. I think it's just supposed to reach out to people and let everyone know that it's not just them that have had bad things happen to them. I think we're supposed to keep an open mind and have our own meaning of the song and that's what makes is special. Anyway, I really love the song because I can relate. I think that's what it's supposed to be about. But I do think there are some parts where it's talking about rape. That's just my interpretation.
