Baby when I saw you turning at the end of the street
I knew a time was gone and it took me like ages
Just to understand that I was afraid to be a simple guy
I tried my best to smile but deep inside my heart
I felt it was shouting like a crowd dancing
I guess I couldn't live without the things that made my life what it is
Can't you hear me calling oh yeah
Everybody's dancing oh yeah
Tonight everything is over
I feel too young
I can't lie on my bed without thinking I was wrong
But when this feeling calls this world becomes another
Nighttime won't hold me in your arms again
I got a very good friend who says he can't believe the love I give
Is not enough to end your fears
I guess I couldn't live without the things that made my life what it is
Can't you hear me calling oh yeah
Everybody's shaking oh yeah
Tonight everything is over
I feel too young
Oh rainfalls and hard times coming they won't leave me tonight
I wish I knew what I was doing
Just do let this spirit survive
Everybody's dancing oh yeah
I guess I couldn't live without the things that made my life what it is
Can't you hear me calling oh yeah
Everybody's dancing oh yeah
Tonight everything is over
I feel too young
Can't you hear me calling oh yeah
Everybody's shaking
Tonight everything is over
I feel too young

"i was afraid to be a simple guy... " makes me think of a young man who was in a relationship with someone who lived a more lavished lifestyle or someone who was just more goal oriented so he pretended he could live up to their standard to make his partner happy and feeling more economically secure, but ultimately, he had no other choice but to hurt this person because he wasn't ready to make the changes he needed to
grow on their level. " i got a very good friend who says he can't believe the love i give is not enough to end your fears"
empathetically, his best friend agrees that what he had to offer should have been more than enough in life. However, deep within, he realize it was more due to his lack of motivation in life because he wasn't ready to be concerned about the economic and social pressures of life. He just wanted to be carefree and young as long as he could.

A man (whether young or middle aged) is torn between his significant other, and living a self-centered lifestyle. Thus, his lover finally leaves him, but his wing man feeds his belief that he did all that he could to make it work, but deep within, he knows he was wrong, but like a young child, he remains selfish - still wanting to hold on to both.
