We said goodbye to a dear old friend
And we packed our bags and left feeling sad
It's the only way
We said hello as we turned the key
A new roof over our heads
Gave a smile
It's the only way
Only way

Turn your head
And don't look back
Set your sails for a new horizon
Don't turn around don't look down
Oh there's life across the tracks
And you know it's really not surprising
It gets better when you get there oh

Well it really don't matter much where you are
Cos home is in your heart
It's a feeling that you wake with one day
Some people key p running all their life
And still find they haven't gone too far
They don't see it's the feeling inside - the feeling inside oh

Turn your head and don't look back
Just set your sails for a new horizon
Don't turn around don't look down
Oh there's life across the tracks
And you know it's really not surprising
It gets better when you get there

We said hello as we turned the key
A new roof over our heads
Gave a smile - it's the only way

For me, it always reminds me of my father who died from lung cancer. It was like a goodbye and a hello for me figuring things out for myself and trying to be maybe half of what he was. Gotta stay strong and keep at it.

I moved to california, and i absolutely loved it and met the most wonderful people, until one person stole all my finances, and i had no choice but to go crawling back to my mother and grandma with my tail between my legs. Because of my finances haven been stole, as well as my personal information, i had no choice but to leave an apartment that i could no longer pay rent for, and that landlord is coming after me now, and so for these last couple months i've been regretting ever moving out to california, but the lyrics "it's a feeling that you wake with one day" made me remember that right before my finances and personal info was stolen, i had woken up with the warm california sun telling me i was home.

And now the "some people keep running all their life" part i think is ringing true for me right now. I ran away from california. And i miss it so much, but i have to turn my head and not look back; i have to set my sails for a new horizon and just give a smile, because it's the only way.

When my parents split when my mother did her best to keep my brothers and i in the same neighborhood. We actually lived in 3 different houses on the same street. This song reminds me of our old family home that we were forced to leave due to the divorce.

This reminds me so much of when my parents divorced when i was 14. Mom, my sister and i had to move across town. Going from the only home i knew to a new beginning. We had no choice but to look ahead because going back wasn't an option.

It was the last song on my sister's 8 track. Reminds me of being 4 years old in the hatchback of a datsun. Now that i've lived a little, it reminds me of starting over and moving on.
