Old 97's – Harold's Super Service lyrics

Now me, I work at Harold’s Super Service
We specialize in service all the way
And there’s only one thing that really bugs me
Is that big ol' guy in his stripped down Model A

At Harold’s Super Service, we do grease jobs
We fix thirty or forty flats every day
And just about the time we get real busy
Here comes that guy in his stripped down Model A

And he says, “Gimme 50 cents worth of regular
Check my oil too, if you don’t mind
Put some air in my tires, won’t you, mister?
Wash my windows too, if you got time”

Last night, I dreamed I died and went to heaven
To that Mighty Super Service in the sky
And I was satisfied of pumpin' gas forever
For the angels in the sweet, by and by

Now the pearly gates was just around the corner
You could see the new ones comin’ every day
And I was changin’ plugs on Moses’ magic carpet
When, up through the clouds, there came this Model A

He says, “Gimme 50 cents worth of regular
Check my oil too, if you don’t mind
Put some air in my tires, won’t you, mister?
Wash my windows too, if you got time”

He says, “Gimme 50 cents worth of regular
Check my oil too, if you don’t mind
Put some air in my tires, won’t you, mister?
Wash my windows too, if you got time”

This song was originally written by my uncle, Bob Harrell of Murray, KY. My dad George, Uncle Bob, Uncle Bill and Uncle Dan ran Harrell's Shell Service on 4th St in Murray, Ky. 1958 next to the entrench to the Drive Inn Theater. Spent many there. Cokes with peanuts and rock Cola and moon pies. They would go up to the car auctions in Aurora, IL, buy cars do the body work paint them and sell them. Dan and Bob did the body and paint jobs. Northern cars, lots of bond and the smell of the green stuff. Uncle Bob was a piano player, black keys only. Play with Elvis somewhere along the line. Went to California, wrote Harrell's Super Service and gave it to a boy starting a radio station out in Arizona if I recall. How Haggard got it, have no idea. Can't see what I'm typing and can't change the mistakes. As of this date 2-6-2016 Uncle Bob and Aunt Nancy live in Henderson, KY. Around 82 years young. Get a reporter over there for the correct story.
