Hey!
Hey!
Hey!

I don't like walking around this old and empty house
So hold my hand, I'll walk with you my dear
The stairs creak as you sleep, it's keeping me awake
It's the house telling you to close your eyes
And some days I can't even trust myself
It's killing me to see you this way

'Cause though the truth may vary
This ship will carry
Our bodies safe to shore

Hey!
Hey!
Hey!

There's an old voice in my head that's holding me back
Well tell her that I miss our little talks
Soon it will be over and buried with our past
We used to play outside when we were young and full of life and full of love
Some days I don't know if I am wrong or right
Your mind is playing tricks on you my dear

'Cause though the truth may vary
This ship will carry
Our bodies safe to shore
Hey!
Don't listen to a word I say
Hey!
The screams all sound the same
Hey!
And though the truth may vary
This ship will carry
Our bodies safe to shore

Hey!
Hey!

You're gone, gone, gone away
I watched you disappear
All that's left is the ghost of you
Now we're torn, torn, torn apart
There's nothing we can do
Just let me go, we'll meet again soon
Now wait, wait, wait for me
Please hang around
I'll see you when I fall asleep
Hey!

Don't listen to a word I say
Hey!
The screams all sound the same
Hey!
And though the truth may vary
This ship will carry
Our bodies safe to shore x2

Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry
Our bodies safe to shore x2

I think this song is about a soldier who probably faced PTSD and was still physical present after war but mentally he was gone. She misses the old him and thinks he can get better but he won't. She misses their talks and how they were when they were young. Now its all screams and she's living a nightmare. She only gets relief from her abusive husband when she is sleeping and remembers the old him. She hopes and knows that eventually he will recover and turn back to himself again or somewhat of himself. I sing this song all the time with my friend David in front of big crowds and I cry every time I hear or sing it! Whether I'm alone or on stage in front of a bunch of people! Its a story of hope and that's what this song means to me :)

It's about a woman who's husband died and it's like thei conversation, it's like she's saying these things, and he is looking over her, trying to be her "guardian angel"

I think this song is about a divorced couple who loved eachother very much but then started fighting(the screams all sound the same) and the husband went overseas(this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore) the woman feels lonely (walking through this old and empty house)

I have only heard this song 3 times and it really makes me want to cry when i hear it. Nearly had a moment in the car on the way to work when this came on.

To me the meaning of the song is about a husband and wife who has known each other since they were young and the husband went over seas and was killed and he is watching over her and trying to comfort her and she hears him
