I need an easy friend. I do, with an ear to lend.
I do think you fit this shoe. I do, won't you have a clue.
(Chorus) I'll take advantage while. You hang me out to dry.
But I can't see you every night, free. [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/n/nirvana/about_a_girl.html ]
I'm standing in your line. I do hope you have the time.
I do pick a number two. I do keep a date with you.
(Chorus)...
(Solo)...
I need an easy friend. I do, with an ear to lend.
I do think you fit this shoe. I do, won't you have a clue.
I'll take advantage while. You hang me out to dry.
But I can't see you every night. No I can't see you every night, free. I do. (x4)
No, kurt wrote this song for tracy. In says so in heavier than heaven. And it does not have a double meaning for heroin... He wasnt on herion when he wrote this song.
Its a song for kurts girlfriend. He didn't have a title for the song so when chad channing (nirvana's drummer at the time) asked what it was about, kurt said "it's about a girl. "
I think he wrote it about his girlfriend... (obviously). Nocemisions is right cuz the lyrics are random and in a way confusing. This is a great song though!
Andydog1 is actually right. In a biography, he said when he was writing songs, people asked why he wasn't writing them about his then-girlfriend, tracy. When his friends asked him what it was about, he simply said, "about a girl," so the name stuck...
I think that there's a double meaning: a girl is also heroin. "but i can't see you every night" was his lament about trying to avoid addiction, which sadly went badly for him.
You can never tell exactly what was meant here. Kurt's lyrics are sometimes random.
I believe that this song could be about a hooker... Maybe, lol. Only, he has fallen in love with her. Yet she can't see the love because she doesn't know what love is. So, he just keeps going back to her, but not free.
Also, the song could be about a man who is living off his girl. He doesn't have a job or a life. She yells at him, and he listens. But, she won't listen to him when he makes excuses. In return, the self pity of being yeld at forces him to be unable to even look at her. Then she kicks him out and he can't do anything to keep her.
