I don't know who you are
And I don't know where you've been
Always out on your own
Always down on your knees

(Refrain):

Now you know
I need a miracle
A star-crossed lover
An arrow in my heart
I need a rainy day
And an endless summer
A pocket full of stars

Ooooooouh

Ooooooouh

Maybe you're just like me
You see the faces in the crowd
Looking down at their feet
Never once make a sound

(Refrain) x2:

Now you know
I need a miracle
A star-crossed lover
An arrow in my heart
I need a rainy day
And an endless summer
A pocket full of stars

There's a girl that I'm interested in but, long story short, she's leaving for college so she doesn't want to have a relationship, yet we call ourselves "Exclusive Friends with Benefits". We started hanging out more when this Summer started. Now here's my problem: I know she's had boyfriends in the past, that doesn't bother, But, one of my friends recently told me that he heard from 2 other people that she was at a party one time and gave 3 or 4 blowjobs to 3 or 4 different people last Summer. I didn't know she was like this at all, to me I thought of her to be loyal and not slutty like that. But what's really weird, is that she showed me song a 2 days ago, told me it was her favorite song, and in this same day, I go home to learn this song and play guitar and sing it to her, and while I'm sitting down learning it, that's when I hear about the 3 or 4 blowjobs thing. It hurt me so much even technically we're not in a "relationship", yet our "Exclusive Friends with Benefits" has all the same components of an actual relationship. I decided to ignore the information about the party that happened last year, and I told her I will sing this song the next time I see her. I try really hard to ignore it, but it still exists in my head, and as I practice the song everyday before I sing it to her, the first four lines, especially "always out on your own, always down on your KNEES", I feel like every time I sing it, I don't know, it's really difficult to explain. I don't know how I'm gonna feel when I actually look her in the eyes and sing it. I probably won't show my true emotions to her, because it will ruin what we have, but I am gonna feel really terrible inside.

I think the refrain is trying to express the feeling of dispair and emptyness of someone that has lost himself, that doesn't know which path to follow because everything seems already lost... This lyric makes me cry... So beautifull and s sad... :')

What does he mean with this verse here...?

Maybe you are just like me
You see the faces in the crowd
    Looking down at their feet
    Never once make a sound...

It's about a guy looking for love. The lines 'i don't know who you are, i don't know where you've been' imply that he hasn't got anyone in particular, but it just looking for someone to love.

To me, this song reminds me of my brother. Ever since he has become a part of the "bad crowd" i dont even know who he is. The first four lines just sum it up, i guess..
