Weep for yourself, my man,
You'll never be what is in your heart
Weep little lion man,
You're not as brave as you were at the start
Rate yourself and rape yourself,
Take all the courage you have left
Waste it on fixing all the problems that you made in your own head
But it was not your fault but mine
And it was your heart on the line
I really fucked it up this time
Didn't I, my dear?
Didn't I, my dear [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/m/mumford_and_sons/little_lion_man.html ]
Tremble for yourself, my man,
You know that you have seen this all before
Tremble little lion man,
You'll never settle any of your scores
Your grace is wasted in your face,
Your boldness stands alone among the rank
Now learn from your mother or else spend your days biting your own neck
But it was not your fault but mine
And it was your heart on the line
I really fucked it up this time
Didn't I, my dear?
But it was not your fault but mine
And it was your heart on the line
I really fucked it up this time
Didn't I my dear
Didn't I my dear
Ahhhhh...
But it was not your fault but mine
And it was your heart on the line
I really fucked it up this time
Didn't I my dear
It was not your fault but mine
And it was your heart on the line
I really fucked it up this time
Didn't I my dear
A guy talking to himself. "little lion man" is a 18 yr guy that thinks hes top dog with so many dreams (little man with a lions roar). Fast forward 5 or 10 years an sing things lyrics to yourself. Not just about love but life. Are you a big lion?

To me it means seeing the pride, faults and false bravado of someone you love, but deciding to make them feel better by taking responsibility for what has caused them sorrow on your own shoulders. All about love, and forgiveness.

Little lion man is about loving someone who is so messed up and is too afraid to love you back, but even though they have so many faults, you still take the blame when things turn sour.

I think he's using passive aggressive sarcasm to blame his significant other for a nasty break up, saying it was "his fault" just like you hear sarcastic remarks from fighting couples like; "well! It's always just my fault isn't it? Because i'm always the one at fault? "

To me its saying that he's had a hard life and is blaming himself but the other man is trying to tell him that everything thats happened isnt always his fault xxx
