Millencolin – Broken World lyrics

While in the middle of the winter it's summer
Then in the middle of summer it's freezing cold
And I wonder, who's wet behind their ears?

A broken world, well ain't that a bummer?
To get from mammoth to pizza took us 27, 000 well spent years

I'm gonna get out of the broken world
I'm just about to discover new land
Get out of the broken world and start a band

Turn on the tv I see troubles of mankind
There is a weird old man who's sayin'
"I'm the decider, you've gotta stay that course"

All of a sudden I've got Shakespeare on my mind,
All of a sudden Richard goes
"horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse"

I'm gonna get out of the broken world
I'm just about to discover new land
Get out of the broken world and start a band

Perhaps the writer is becoming progressively more motivated to take the action of changing their life into what they want it to be. Media sometimes strikes nerves through its messages of "to be accepted, you must be as I desire", causing one to become self-critical through raising the question of "do I coincide with what was just subliminally deemed as normal?". The writer overrides the worry thoughts with silly opposing thoughts, effectively changing worry feelings to calm lightheartedness on the issue, yet the underlying, lingering feeling of being "different from the norm" still remains and gets added like a log to a bonfire, fueling the writers desire to march to the beat of his/her own drum.
