Martina Mcbride – Concrete Angel lyrics

She walks to school with the lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holding back;
Wearing the same dress she wore yesterday,
She hides the bruises with linen and lace

The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask,
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask;
Bearing the burden of a secret storm,
Sometimes she wishes she was never born;

Through the wind and the rain,
She stands hard as a stone in a world that she can't rise above;
But her dreams give her wings and she flies to a place where she's loved.

Concrete Angel

Somebody cries in the middle of the night,
The neighbors hear but they turn out the light;
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate,
When morning comes it will be too late.

Through the wind and the rain,
She stands hard as a stone in a world that she can't rise above;
But her dreams give her wings and she flies to a place where she's loved.

Concrete Angel

A statue stands in a shaded place,
An angel girl with an upturned face;
Her name is written on a polished rock,
A broken heart that the world forgot.

Through the wind and the rain,
She stands hard as a stone in a world that she can't rise above;
But her dreams give her wings and she flies to a place where she's loved.

    I have had a hard life. But recently had the worst struggles of all. I was abused in just about every way possible besides rape when I was young, for yrs & yrs. By my dads best friend. (Its usually someone either in or close to the family for all you parents needing baby sitters!) & I now am in an abusive relationship. I guess its a vicious cycle. This is the song I listened to when I recently went thru hard very hhard times. Literally put it on repeat n listened to it a million times. It gave me a sense of calm I guess. I literally either tear up orstraight up cry every single time I hear it, there couldn't have been a better person to sing it either.
    I should say if you get abused get help right now! Why wait ur only hurting urself. But its not like it will make a diff. Ur usually to scared of them either hurting you or loved ones. Or you don't wanna get thm in trouble. Or ur scared that you will get in trouble. They make you feel like that on purpose. Its not ok! Anything that makes you ncomfortable or unhappy is not ok. Atleast talk to a counselor or something. It will all be ok, & you will save urself alot of hurt n pain.

    :( this is really sad. Child abuse is wrong and more innocent kids die eachyear. It always makes me cry when commercials come on about that stuff. Whether it's animals or kids I hate it and I wish it could stop. This is kind of personal. But I wish Obama lost because he's 4 abortion and that's kind of like abuse. What kind of sick and twisted world do we live in? :(

    It's a song about a little girl that is abused by her mother, and she tries to hide it. But, despite her pain and the despair she has a place that she goes for happiness. There's one night that veryone can here her screams and can guess what is happening, but they pay no mind and turn their thought and eyes away. The night that the girl is killed. It ends on a note that makes you happier, though because it mentions that there is a gravestone where there shouldn't be, but that she's still happy.

    I love this song. It struck deep in my soul. I nearly cry when I hear it, and I sing it all the time, I have it memorized. Abuse of any kind is wrong, just utterly wrong, and those who die from physical abuse deserve a high place in the heavens for trying to survive through it. Because they truly are angels in this world, whether they choose to act like it or not. I'm a survivor of emotional abuse myself, and when I heard this song it brought a lot of memories that I never really wanterd to think about again. But it's helped me.
