You self distructive
Little girl
Pick yourself up
Don't blame the world
So you screwed up
But your gonna be ok
Now call your boyfriend
And apologize
You pushed him pretty
Far away last night
He really loves you
You just don't always love yourself.
(Chorus)
And all this time
Ohhh all this time
You have had it in you
You just sometimes need a push
All this time
Ohhh all this time
You have had it in you
You just sometimes need a push
Think all the mean girls
That pulled your hair
Are barefoot now and
Pregnant there
And you write pop songs
And get to travel around the world [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/m/maria_mena/all_this_time.html ]
(Chorus)
And all this time
Ohhh all this time
You have had it in you
You just sometimes need a push
And all this time
Ohhh all this time
You have had it in you
You just sometimes need a push
So you've had some detours
Some stupid men
Now we know what not
to do again
Besides you lucked out
Finally
(Chorus)
And all this time
Ohhh all this time
You have had it in you
You just sometimes need a push
All this time
Ohhh all this time
You have had it in you
You just sometimes need a push
All this time
Ohhh all this time
You have had it in you
You just sometimes need a push
i guess she sings about herself when she was a teenager... about her, beeing insecure, incontent and even "self-destructive"... About punishing other people for this antipathy against herself, like her boyfriend, who actually really loves her,.. About how she blamed the whole world for her pain, and denying her own guilt of her situation...
She sings about girls who "pulled her hair", i think she probably was bullied when she was a teenager, like a lot of people were...
She now sings about all this, with some space and time between and now describes and judges her behaviour in a more objective way.
She now knows that she was the one to blame for her insecurity, her "destruction" and nobody else, she also kind of gives herself advices like "pick your self up don't blame the world" or even reassures herself by sayin things like "so you screwed up but you're gonna be okay"
She now knows that she always was something special, always had something her, what probably is her musical talent, her talent to write emotional texts, what fitts perfect to the picture of a insecrue, sensitive and kind of self destructing teenager i think...
But now she sees everything out of todays view, it seems less dramatic to her than when she was younger, she now made it, she travels around the world and writes songs..
She realizes that she is not and was never kind of "wrong", like she thought in her youth
I just understand this song so well i cannot really explain
it in words...
