Manic depressive!
Masochistic!
(Inaudible yelling)

You don't move
Unless you know someone you can move
And I bruise
Just like anyone would bruise
And I know
We've got a long way to go
I know
We've got so far...

We built this house with our hands
And our time
And our blood
We built this up in one day
To fall down
And rust
You built this house with your hands
And your time
And your blood
You built this up in one day
To fall down
And rust

I'm gone
You tried to emphasize inside
With both of us
You're gone
In time I swore I'd take
The straight and narrow path
That still won't go
I'll hold
This here
I'm only trying to do
My job tonight
This here, my job, these lips, and crucify the fire

We built this house with our hands
And our time
And our blood
We built this up in one day
To fall down
And rust
You built this house with your hands
And your time
And your blood
We built this up in one day
To fall down
And
Never gonna feel the same
No it's never gonna be the same
No it's never gonna be the same
No it's never gonna be the same

(Children's choir)
We built this house with our hands
And our time
And our blood
We built this up in one day
To fall down
And rust

We built this house with our hands
And our time
And our blood
We built this up in one day
To fall down
And rust
(Trust in me the same way)
You built this house with your hands
And your time
And your blood
(Hold me in the same way)
We built this up in one day
To fall down
And
Never gonna feel the same
No, it's never gonna be the same
No, it's never gonna be the same
No, it's never gonna be the same

(Children's choir)
Never gonna feel the same
Never gonna be the same
Never gonna be the same
Never gonna be the same

The world in general... We built this up in one day... All the wars and blood... And now we just let it fall...

Simply put the fall of our country, how quickly it was built on such strong principles, only to let it go wayside.

The song is about amarica we were abused when we came to america
We than became the abusers to the people that were here first. Than we thought we were working hard for some thing good than we lost our verginity 911, ran out of credit, have let banks rule us for the last 300 years the list gos on we got raped in short order. Now we feel tired like the old vet with the flag wounded and jadded. In fact the flag shows up in the video on all of the chairactors shots. In the end it all falls down burns and rusts away. The kid with the gas mask carring the tv at the end was representing the fact that we the people gave it all up for a broken old tv that sat in your garage and protection from a enemy that we created

This song makes me want to go home to my family and tear their lives apart with a large rustic ax.

It's the relationship between andy and his wife. The album is mainly about the rough times they had where they almost divorced. My take on the song is that they built on their relationship for so long, just for it to rust and collapse and never be the same.
