Los Lonely Boys - How Far Is Heaven

Save me from this prison
Lord help me get away
'Cause only you can save me now
From this misery

I've been lost in my own place
And I'm getting weary
How far is heaven
I know that I need to change
My ways of livin'
How far is heaven
Lord can you tell me

I've been locked up way too long
In this crazy world
How far is heaven
I just keep on prayin' Lord
And just keep on livin'

How far is heaven
Yeah, Lord can you tell me
How far is heaven
I just got to know how far
How far is heaven
Yeah, Lord can you tell me

(Spanish)

Cause I know there's a better place
Than this place I'm livin'
How far is heaven
And I just got to have some faith
And just keep on giving
How far is heaven
Yeah, Lord can you tell me
How far is heaven
I just got to know how far, yeah
How far is heaven
Yeah, Lord can you tell me
How far is heaven
Cause I just got to know how far
I just wanna know how far

There has to be a better place, this place is morally bankrupt and getting worse as we write. The only way out is following the words Jesus left us 2000 years ago . With that said , heaven is not that far at all. Wake up people.we have turned this world into a living hell

I'm tired of this earthly prison and long to go to my heavenly home where there will be no more pain, sorrow, or tears. Where is it and how far is it from me? It is only breath away.

This song is neo-gnostic escapist heresy, looking to escape the world to some platonic spiritual realm rather than seek its restoration and redemption through resurrection and new creation. The point of the gospel is not to escape the world which god has made (as this song suggests) but to see the world remade and renewed in a new creation where the new jerusalem will descend and god himself will dwell with us. This kind of nonsense needs to stop.

Heaven is not a place we go to when we die, it is a reality that is breaking into the world in our midst and will one day be fully consummated here on earth. Songs like this buy into the notion that the best we can hope for is to escape our world when christian hope is all about its redemption.
