Not the same version, of course, but this tune is the bbc's theme tune for its coverage of test match cricket. There is no connection i am aware of to the sport. The tune was not written by ritchie valens, but is an old mexican folk song, frequently performed by mariachi bands.

I heared this song first in africa when i was like 8 years old... I didnt even know the meaning of the lyrics.. I could barely speak english.. I didnt even know there was something called spanish but i liked the beat, how the lyrics sounded.. Everything about this song is perfect.. I forgot about this song for like 8 years because now am 16 years old till i heared this song in the begining of the movie called hot bubblegum so i just remembered the beat of the song so i closed the movie right away and searched for the movies soundtrack till i saw la bamba then i downloaded the song and listened to it all night even while sleeping.. When iwoke up i continued to listen to it then i searched for the lyrics and then started writing to you.. I believed this one song has changed more lives than a hospital have..

My grandmother and grandfather (poppy) danced in this club with these friends and this was their song~
