Crawling in my skin
These wounds, they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real
There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface
Consuming, confusing
This lack of self control I fear is never ending
Controlling
I can't seem
To find myself again
My walls are closing in
(Without a sense of confidence I'm convinced that there's just too much pressure to take)
I felt this way before
So insecure
[Chorus] [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/l/linkin_park/crawling.html ]
Discomfort, endlessly has pulled itself upon me
Distracting, reacting
Against my will I stand beside my own reflection
It's haunting how I can't seem...
To find myself again
My walls are closing in
(Without a sense of confidence I'm convinced that there's just too much pressure to take)
I felt this way before
So insecure
[Chorus] (Repeat until end)
There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface
Consuming, confusing
This lack of self control I fear is never ending
Controlling
I think this song is about not having confidence. When you don't have confidence, you don't tend to act like yourself, turning into someone else. You end up doing what people say easily, getting caught up into trouble, doing stuff that's totally irrational (drugs, cutting, stealing, ect. ). It's actually pretty creepy when you look at yourself and see that you're a stranger to yourself. Eventually, you get smaller and smaller as the other person that you formed to fit in gets bigger, 'till there's no more of you. Then life as you know it screws up and everything gets so confusing.
I think it has to do with the abuse that a child suffers. They try to deal with the pain and confusion, that's buried beneath, while growing up, but it's a never-ending cycle of pain, then confusion about why it happened to them, and then trying to break free from the bonds of that pain. No matter how hard you try something pulls from beneath the surface. A child lives with that trauma for the rest of their lives and it's reflected through their actions and reactions to their surroundings. Many of linkin' park's songs reflects that about them. Read a bio on chester bennington.
This may surprise alot but this song is not "emo", it is actually a self-recollection, to wake oneself up from the incredible lie put upon oneself, what i mean is this is someone showing themselves how much has changed and much the person has fallin, to take the shroud off and show them the reality of their mistakes that can never be washed away, but along with this awakening is a evenly matched and super-influent burst of either great sadness(a depression) or great confidence(get old self back) and thats a whole nother song for the outcome but yeh its kinda like a truth song

I heard that this was written after the singer got bit by a spider and the poison was "crawling" under his skin and gave him the inspiration to this song
Change, or maybe self-recollection or self-esteem. Actually there is a lot of ways you can actually decipher this song... Hold the phone!! This song may actually be about chester though... With all that stuff in his past... {im straying =_=}
back to topic! Right! Self-recolllection! I have to work on that too... I'll name this meaning 1#
1# meaning to live a lie... Remember the sarcastic s**ts and b***hes back in high school? Something like that. Turning into someone whose really not "u". When this happens you end up getting caught in all the lows of life. And then you won't have the confidence to say anything and not able to anything when someone does something bad to you as in the video. 2#an abused child. Know your old pal the recycle logo? Its something like that here. The pain, confusion and suffering that child has is endless... Its a cycle. The child won't know what's wrong and s/he will try to run from it but something always pulls them back under. These abused children has to live with all that for the rest of their life and its reflected in everything they do. Just match the meanings with the song. ?mess17 has the same kinda idea... The 3# meaning...
