Enjolras
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

Combeferre
Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Somewhere beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?

Courfeyrac
Then join in the fight
That will give you the right to be free!!

All
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

Feuilly
Will you give all you can give
So that our banner may advance
Some will fall and some will live
Will you stand up and take your chance?
The blood of the martyrs
Will water the meadows of France!

All
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes

I have seen the movie three times and plan to see it more times. Having seen a number of stage performances in London, I really didn't expect to enjoy the movie as much as I did. It was simply stunning. Some people have commented on some of the actors' musicianship. Hugh Jackman isn't a great singer, but he was much more than adequate. More than that, he brought a passion to the role that I have not seen equalled in the other performances I have seen. Tom Hooper had it exactly right when he insisted that the actors sing rather than lip sync.

The song is like a emblem that helps me rebel against the thoughts of people who are reluctant to change the way of their mind and keep people in shackles preventing them from spreading their wings and soaring. I not only think of the French Revolution but the American Revolution, and I am not big on America now a days but it reminds me that before every other country in the world, America was filled with a people who wanted to be free. This song makes me feel significant in this world that makes me feel differently, I feel that I can follow my dreams as long as I try hard enough, this song gives me more hope than I could ever express in any form of language besides the language of emotion and song.
