Originally when Laurie Anderson first released "Let X=X" for new wave radio, the original version had ended with some of the most beautiful lyrics she has ever written. After she says "cause I - I feel - feel like - I am - in a burning buildin Nd I gotta go." She adds, "It's a days work just looking into your eyes. It's a days work just looking into them..." Very few people have ever heard the first original version for radio. It's awesome. I'm still looking for it.
The song is brilliantly funny. It needs no explanation. Just "Let X=X."
