Lauren Alaina – Eighteen Inches lyrics

It's about fifteen hundred miles to California,
They'll get there Friday if they leave tonight,
She sneaks out at three thirty in the morning,
Leaves a note so she won't see her daddy cry.

He cuts the engine when he coasts in the driveway,
She slides in and gives him one kiss for the road,
No friends and no family, no job out there waiting,
The whole town will call them crazy but they gotta go.

'Cause when you're young and in love, yeah,
You might do some things that don't seem all that smart,
'Cause there ain't no greater distance than the eighteen inches from your
Head to your heart, yeah.

They can barely make rent on a rundown apartment,
She's waiting tables and he's a valet,
They're behind on the bills and the car's barely running,
But he buys a ring with the tips that he's saved.

When you're young and in love, yeah,
You might do some things that don't seem all that smart,
'Cause there ain't no greater distance than the eighteen inches from your
Head to your heart.

Last thing they need is another mouth to feed, but they won't call,
Just kids themselves but that's all to change in nine more months,

She wakes him up at three thirty in the morning,
Ready or not their new life's going to start,
Seven pounds and eighteen inches,
The doctor lays that new baby's head right on her heart.

When you're young and in love, yeah,
You might do some things that don't seem all that smart,
But thank God for those eighteen inches,
The distance it is from your head to your heart, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Listen. I'm the biggest lauren alaina fan that ever lived. I been watching american idol since the beginning, and I never quite found the perfect singer. Until lauren. In my opinion, lauren is way better than scotty. Scotty has one thing he's good at, lauren. Whoa girl! You are talented! She blew him out of the park. Anyway, the lyrics are wrong. I would know. I have the cd and it gives me a book of the lyrics. I'm looking at it right now, and it's supposed to be: the last thing they need is another mouth to feed, but they want one. They're just kids themselves, but that's gonna change, in 9 more months. Not: the last things they need is another mouth to feed, but they won't call. They're just kids themselves, but that's all to change, in 9 more months. Thanks for reading. By the way, I love typing out long comments. If I post a short one I don't get my full opinion out. Thanks for listening and reading. I hope you're watching season 11 of american idol. There's gonna be a winner. But not compared to lauren alaina! : d

This song really grows on you. I find myself humming this all day, so it really stays with you. I think that this will be another hit we will be hearing on the radio. Lauren is such a talented young lady and I had to tell my niece who is 16 about her album because she doesn't watch american idol but since she's from georgia and does like country music that she would love this album and I was right. I think the word is going to spread and it will grow just like wildflowers. Lauren made an incredible album.
