Beth, I hear you callin'
But I can't come home right now
Me and the boys are playin'
And we just can't find the sound
Just a few more hours
And I'll be right home to you
I think I hear them callin'
Oh, Beth what can I do
Beth what can I do

You say you feel so empty
That our house just ain't a home
And I'm always somewhere else
And you're always there alone

Just a few more hours
And I'll be right home to you
I think I hear them callin'
Oh, Beth what can I do
Beth what can I do

Beth, I know you're lonely
And I hope you'll be alright
'Cause me and the boys will be playin'
All night

The words to the song were actually written by Peter Criss' band mate in Chelsea, Stan Pendridge. It was also originally titled "Beck" after the wife of Mike Brand who would call during practices asking when he was coming home, her name was Becky. When Peter brought it to KISS, the first thing they did was rename it "Beth" so people didn't think they were singing a love song to Jeff Beck and the music reworked by Bob Ezrin. Gene and Paul didn't want the song on Destroyer since it didn't fit in with the rest of the bands songs but manager Bill Aucoin insisted it stay on the record. It was the B side to Detroit Rock City but stations started playing Beth more then DRC and it was re-released as the A side with DRC as the B. It has since gone on to be credited as the song that helped KISS gain it's mega stardom and still remains one of their most beloved songs, last being preformed live in concert in 2011 by drummer Eric Singer which means all 3 KISS drummers have preformed the song in concert, however only Criss and Eric Carr have recorded a version for an album.
