Taxicab Messiah lyrics

My god loved the whores and babies
My god never noticed a sin
My god grew and killed the daises
My god threw the towel in

My god is weird my god is scared my god paints a pretty picture of fear
He's driving in gear.

One day got sick of hailing Mary's
Hailed you, got the door and slid on in
Told me you were good a fortune telling
Said too much, threw the towel in

Paid for my ride

Told him we could take the long way
Held on to everything he said
Wanted insight or an answer
Pointed the rear-view at my head

All in all, what does it mean?

It's all very strange, yet somewhat simple. She has a flare for the dramatic and symbolism abounds in this video.

This person rejects normal religious ideas (if there is such a thing), in favor of a Taxicab Messiah, a god she can basically take or leave. (her god loves the sinner and innocent, he doesn't notice sin, has no allegiance and ultimately is powerless, so he threw the towel in).

This god is wierd (not in normal religion, see above) this god is scared (v. 2nd Timothy 1:7 - I feel it is appropriate to quote scripture, due to the religious nature of this video.), this god paints a pretty picture of fear - but who in thier right minds wants fear? I don't, but this is what is expected in Industrial Techno music.

Also note how she does the interpretive dancing, much like what the Apostate Laodicean churches do now adays (ie: the charismatic non-denom churches). Why are they so similar, when seemiingly they have nothing in common; hmmm - kind of like asking: why do good people go to Hell - maybe it's because they weren't so good after all... maybe they too had something in common with bad people, that was not readily apparent. Like the interpretive dancing here, as an example only.

In the second stanza, she "got sick of hailing marys", so this probably means she was at one time Catholic or some form of Catholic perversion (as most of Catholicism seems to be). Then she encounters this taxicab god (depicted as a confused archtype of Satan or a devil), and he makes this claim to tell he future, but then fails again.

Interesting enough, in the middle of the song, she says her ride is paid for - a reference to redemption. The only God in the history of mainstream religion to pay for one's "ride" would obviously be Jesus Christ, the Son of God... sadly, though, this song is obviously not about Him. (maybe in some twisted metaphor, images of the cross at graves at the end?) Perversion is not a Godly attribute though, according to the Bible ...

finally, she says take the long way (she must not be ready for revelation yet or death one), she listens to him, even with his fallacies, and then asked him for insight.

But he evidentally directs her view to her own self (like we didn't see that one coming) by redirecting his own rear-view mirror. This god ignores his past, and redirects her attention on herself. You know, 'Eve' never could resist the 'forbidden fruit' of self-worship.

At the end she askes the most important question: what does it all mean?

You want to know my opinion? it's two fold:

1) According to her, it is all about self worship, which is what you would come to expect from a self-absorbed, self-important person. IMHO, I think she is trying too hard to be ecclectic, and yet relevant, at the same time, which of course, is a slight paradox - but it does sell records and Cds though.

The Taxicab Messiah sadly serves no divine purpose, has no plan of redemption (except for free rides), and ultimatley fails her in the end. (note: I think he will fail you too if you trust him (Satan) or yourself ... but it's your life. Do what you will I guess.)

2) I think from my POV that she really needs to mature. Reading her writings from 2002-03 on her band's website journal, one gets the feeling of a critical, yet searching spirit. She has some good points (I like what she wrote about the News Media; excellent points. I have thought so too for some time now), yet all in all she needs the Truth presented to her in a package that is not wrapped in bright colored paper and twisted bows.

Most religious / spiritual people don't even have a clue of what I speak (and even most Christians are lost to the truth as well; a pity really), but I know what the absolute truth of this Earth is, and I would like to share it ... but I am running out of space.

Suffice it to say, she hits all over it in her song "Taxicab Messiah" - emphasis on Messiah. (Note: I searched this song out because of the Video Game - DX Invisible War, because that game was the antithesis of everything I know to be true and I can now say that this song fits well within that game - now that I know what it says.)

John 8: 31-32 . Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall MAKE YOU FREE.

To the Kidney Thieves: stopped Hailing Mary? - good, now go the final step for ultimate Truth. The Taxicab will take you to the city (ie: the world's POV), but not to the Messiah.

This song has an intersting and highly unique sound, quality execution, but a lame message that helps no one (maybe it sparks thought? IDK). Good for a spooky video game, but not for spiritual enlightenment of a mature and well-thought nature. (no offense meant)
