Kid Rock – Born Free lyrics

"Born Free"

Fast, on a rough road riding
High, through the mountains climbing
Twisting, turning further from my home.
Young, like a new moon rising
Fierce, through the rain and lightning
Wandering out into this great unknown.

And I don't want no one to cry,
But tell 'em if I don't survive:

[Chorus:]
I was born free!
I was booooooorn free
I was born free, born free.

Free, like a river raging
Strong, if the wind I'm facing.
Chasing dreams and racing fathered time.
Deep like the grandest canyon,
Wild like an untamed stallion.
If you can't see my heart you must be blind.

You can knock me down and watch me bleed
But you can't keep no chains on me.

[Chorus:]
I was born free!
I was booooooorn free
I was born free, born free.

And I'm not good at long goodbyes,
But look down deep into my eyes,

I was born free!

Calm, facing danger,
Lost like an unknown stranger,
Grateful, for my time with no regrets.
Close to my destination,
Tired, frail and achin',
Waitin' patiently for the sun to set.

And when it's done believe that I
Will yell it from that mountain highhh!

[Chorus:]
I was born free!
I was booooooorn free
I was born free, born free.

I will bow to shining seas
And celebrate God's grace on me!

Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh (repeats)

Hey Dennis, I'm not I'm favor of strict gun laws. Yes, I own firearms. Yes, I live in a rural area. Let me tell you, using the grammar and spelling you use is exactly the reason people are afraid of guns and people that own them. It doesn't help the argument. It just makes it look like dumb, un-educated hillbillies are the only ones fighting to keep their weapons. Thank you for serving our country and fighting for my rights. Please, use your G. I. Bill, and help this effort with well spoken arguments.

An american soldier, far from home fighting for freedom in any country he does not know or understand, reflecting on the many reasons he chooses to fight. "take all from him you may be able to take, i.e. , youth, sanity, peaceful feelings, trust and even future. " but, being from america they will never take the fact that he was born free and is willing to die so others may experience the same.
This is how I, personally, feel when I hear this song and I am brought to tears each time. Go kid.

This, to me, is a message. It's a message about a fighter who knows when the end is coming but doesn't let anybody know how he's really feeling. This is a message from somebody who has lived their life to the fullest and never let anything bring them down. This is a message I listen to everyday when I think of my father who lost his battle with cancer. He played this song over and over and I never knew the meaning until now. I miss you, man.

2 of my best friends died in a car wreck this year and it was played at the funeral and ever since then it's been very important to me because they were the happiest people I've ever met. She was beautiful and full of life and he could put a smile on anyones face no matter what was going on and neither of them ever let anyone or anything get to them.

This song seems like the story of a man who is struggling with the passing of time and his own mortality. Terms like "twisting, turning, chasing, wondering, all seem to depict someone who is in some sort of struggle. All of these terms change towards the end of the song into terms like calm, grateful, tired, frail etc; i think kidd rock does an amazing job and allows us to look into his soul as attempts to share with us the "meaning" he has found in his own life. Great song!
