It's not how long we held each other's hand
What matters is how well we loved each other

It's not how far we travelled on our way
Of what we found to say
It's not the spring you see, but all the shades of green

It's not how long I held you in my arms
What matters is how sweet the years together
It's not how many summertimes we had to give to fall
The early morning smiles we tearfully recall
What matters most is that we loved at all.

It's not how many summertimes we had to give to fall
The early morning smiles we tearfully recall
What matters most is that we loved at all.

What matters most is that we loved at all.

Everytime I listen to this music it always gives me the picture of two old couples reminiscing their past on how they started then getting married and getting through all those hardships in life and taste sweetness of love as they grow older. It is very nice to think and to feel when you and your partner talks about the past and laugh about what had happened during those times when you first met, the first date, the getting married event, the first baby was born, and so on then you look at your partner and see those wrinkles on the face and say "these wrinkles is the proof that we are strong".

"what matters most" song means, love has no barrier to people who deeply love each other. Regardless of time, differences, and distance. As long as they love and will love each other

Cannot and will not forget these song. It's not included in our church wedding compilation of songs, and we never thought of it, until when the priest was about to say his homily, instead of talking long, he literally sang the whole song. "what matter's most is that we love at all" is the key ingredient in marriage. We will surpass all the hardships that we may encounter in our married life, but no matter how hard and painful it's, because of genuinely loving each other we can it through. And everytime we hear this song, we cannot deny the great impact it made to our relationship. We are already married for 11 years and counting.

It's definitely the number of years or days two people spent with each other that counts, what's important is how fruitful those years were, hiw they loved each other so dearly.

It is ironically true that even the perfect feeling-love can also be lost like a physical death. It pains to comprehend the complexity such lost brings and the effort to understand intensify the hurt... What matters most (lyrics) tells one to be still and find peace amid the turbulence it (such lost) brings.
