Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Blue birds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then oh why can't I?
If happy little blue birds fly beyond the rainbow
Why oh why can't I?
the meaning of this song explains what Judy Garland's life really was. She had many troubles and all she wanted to do was fly away from them. she had a wonderful voice and put all the effort she could in her movies and songs. She was a true beauty and should be reconized for all she did plus what she went through. My heart cries out for Judy Garland!
someday ill wish upon a star... is hope
why can't i... is defeat
this is a truly beautiful yet simple song. most anyone would have a connection with the lyrics, and for judy garland's rendition, no one else could possibly come close. though it was dorothy's character singing, it was judy garland's own hope and hopelessness in fairytails heartfelt words. i feel sadness and sparks of sunshine each time i hear it, i smile and cry. hopefully she's where those happy little bluebirds fly.
