I'm central to nowhere
Thinking of sweeping it clean
When we choose to go were losing more than just our surroundings
I've gone around the sides of this universe as it stands
Outside the limits of all existence
Where light never ends

We should be grateful to the gods
Whoever they're real to they are
I value my placement as in Hell
Remember that moment that I fell

Anything that could one day be is as real as what I'm saying
If something is nothing it must not be something in any possible way
Lo-lo-lose yourself in the far off worlds that are right under your feet
Switch below with above all the way up into infinity

We should be thankful who we are
Whether we know ourselves or not
Walking alongside myself
Neither of us listens very well

I'm dreading a time that is not near
As a man on cross I have no fear I can't believe these words I'm saying
You gotta feel your lines
You gotta feel your lines

I'm dreading a time that is not near
As a man on cross I have no fear I can't believe these words I'm saying
You gotta feel your lines
You gotta feel your lines

I'm dreading a time that is not near

Ahhh!

I'm dreading a time that is not near
As a man on cross I have no fear I can't believe these words I'm saying
You gotta feel your lines
You gotta feel your lines

No no, what he means is that we should love ourselves for who we are, and be grateful for every moment, live life in love not fear. He is actually trying to wake people up, to remember who they really are. Namaste

If any of you know john frusciante's story, i believe it is pretty evident that this song revolves around his drug addiction. He talks about losing himself in far off worlds that are right under his feet, but in a deeper sense, he isn't just losing his state during the instance of being high, but he's also losing his state as a person in general. He wants us to remember that we need to understand who we are, where we stand, and where we want our lives should take us - and have no fear along the way. He can't believe the words he is saying because he failed to soar all the way into infinity, and instead, he lost himself in those far off worlds, and now he stands alone, as he "values his placement in hell"... It all makes sense if you critically think about this song. This song is so much more than appreciating life and people. It's about the privilege of life, that we all at one point in our life, abuse

Great song, great musician, great lyrics, great perfromance, back-vocals are great as always. One of the greatest songs produced by John. Only Carvel song may compete with it. We may find different meanings of the song as the words and the sentences have no specific attachments, but vice versa are directed to the universe of human soul and universe around us. Still, personnally, I feel John is trying to tell of his inner battle with been drug-addict, been recognised and acclaimed as great musician and his desire to remain true to himself, simple and humblle in his doings and desire for everlasting search for soul. It's his world, it's his style, it's his music and he is best at it. Most repsect for John's work. Alex.

You do realise this song, like almost all of john's work is open to individual interpretation. I think he had an idea of making music that every individual can draw something from, but in a billion different ways.

Does nobody have a opinion about that song?i think that is a john's dissatisfaction of the world ... People have more then enough and they want more even they are not able to produce love ...
