Many rivers to cross
But I can't seem to find my way over
Wandering I am lost
As I travel along the white cliffs of dover

Many rivers to cross
And it's only my will that keeps me alive
I've been licked, washed up for years
And I merely survive because of my pride

And this loneliness won't leave me alone
It's such a drag to be on your own
My woman left me and she didn't say why
Well, I guess I'll have to cry

Many rivers to cross
But just where to begin I'm playing for time
There have been times I find myself
Thinking of committing some dreadful crime

Yes, I've got many rivers to cross
But I can't seem to find my way over
Wandering, I am lost
As I travel along the white cliffs of Dover

Yes, I've got many rivers to cross
And I merely survive because of my will...

Well this song means a lot to me , this is a stream of thought that ran through my mind when i totally lost everything .. When i was 15 i lost my mother and father . I had a one brother who was elder than me he was married back then . I didn't want to be a burden to anyone . I simply had nothing . Even my girlfriend left me it was a 3year old relation i had no one to rely on . I tried to kill my self several times but something stopped me . That was my will .. I didn't had any reason to live . I had every reason to kill myself . But i chose to live . I'm going to cross those rivers someday and i'm going to look back . And i'm proud of my will and i'm proud of myself . Loneliness can't kill me .

My meaning to this song is different than what the song actually talks about. I had spent my childhood in numerous foster homes and group homes, the courts wouldn't let my mother take care of me due to a couple of different things, and it was the only home that I ever wanted to know. I finally got to go back home when I turned 18, when the courts could no longer tell me where I laid my head at night. That day is what this song reminds me of, that day when I finally got to go home.
